Falling into Rarohenga literacy project

 

Recently my class has been reading a book named "Falling into rarohenga" Rarohenga is "hell" or "the underworld" in Māori.

The book tells the story of two twins Tui and Kae who are trying to find the way back to the overworld, they encounter many different beasts along the way and one of them is the "Peropero".

"Dragan!!!! come onnnnn, you said we were gonna play spotlight!"

"Shut your mouth Kaja, I'm looking for my headtorch."

Ollie, Cliff, Kaja and I have been waiting for what feels like hours and Dragan finally gives up.

Cliff is first to be in, Ollie was found within a matter of seconds, Kaja and I moments after.

We all give up on playing and decide to walk around. 

Everyone turns their heads towards the bush, "I could've sworn I saw someone in there…" 

"C'mon Cliff your just seeing things"

"No! Ollie, I'm being serious."

In the end we all decided to check it out.

"Cliff you going crazy, no one's here."

"Trust me Dragan, I'm telling the truth! I know what I saw."

"Uhm Sophie? I don't have a good feeling about this"

"It'll be fine Kaja, if anyone is there im gonna beat them up" I say as I pick up a scooter.

We continue to walk around when Cliff and Ollie disappear, like any remotely normal person we decide to search for them.

"I don't like this, they're gonna jumpscare us, I know it!"

"Kaja, like I said. I have my so-called weapon" we both burst into laughter as we hear something in the bush again.

"Come on guys its getting pretty dark, we have to go inside soon"

"Dragan shhh I see someone!"

Kaja points to the bush with her torch and i see what she was looking at, it was Ollie.

I hold the scooter tight and ask Kaja if she saw Cliff too.

"I don't think he's there, maybe they split up"

"I'm not sure Cliff would agree to that after what he saw in the bush" I reply

She nods in agreement
